Mathura Police has found serious inconsistency in the statement of the Polish woman who had lodged a case of rape against a cab driver on Friday. The Delhi Police had on Friday registered a zero First Information Report (FIR) at Paharganj police station on the basis of her statement and the same was transferred to Mathura Police for further investigation.
The aggrieved woman reached Mathura with a Delhi police team and a member of a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO). Investigators dealing with the case revealed that the woman is unclear about the sequence of events and on being asked to narrate the incident, she is losing her temper and her behaviour becomes violent. The woman in her statement to the Mathura police revealed that she took an autorickshaw which took her about 20-25 kilometres on the National Highway and then left her there. She then started her journey on foot with her two-and-a-half year-old daughter during late evening hours. later a car was flagged down and she thumbed a ride. She claims there was only one person in the car who later spritzed her and she fell unconscious.
“The victim has till now not told us the place where she started her journey from. She is unclear about the sequence of events herself and is not divulging the exact details. She has simple injury marks on her legs and breasts. We have identified one of the places she earlier resided at,” said Additional Superintendent of Police (Mathura) Omvir Singh. The picture is very obscure and the investigating officer will contact the victim on Monday for further information the officer added.
The investigating officers also revealed that the victim was getting irate when asked about the incident details and instead of answering questions, she started chanting Hare Ram Hare Krishna. She also blamed the country and its ineffectiveness in dealing with foreign tourists. “Every time she was asked something either she would shout or start a different topic. She has been working with the ISKCON temple. Few of her locations where she stayed have been identified which include guest houses, rented accommodation and the ISKCON temple, “said the officer. She did not even have her passport and her visa documents which she claimed she had left in Delhi.
Meanwhile sources revealed that the victim’s visa had expired and on a court’s direction she was allowed to stay in the country. The woman was spotted moving around the Supreme Court area in the Capital on January 2 which is the day of the incident revealed the source.
