Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Delhi BJP office at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg on Monday. The inauguration coincides with the Navratri Celebrations. During the inauguration ceremony, BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, senior leaders, MPs, MLAs, councillors, union ministers, and thousands of party workers will also be present. Announcing this, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva congratulated the BJP workers on the completion of the office construction and recalled that on June 9, 2023, BJP national president J P Nadda had performed the ‘bhoomi poojan’ of the office.
“After the party’s establishment, the first office was opened at Ajmeri Gate, later shifted for some time to Rakabganj Road, and for almost 35 years functioned from 14 Pandit Pant Marg,” he said. The Delhi BJP President said that tomorrow, when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the new office, it will be a historic moment. After the BJP’s founding, the first office was opened at Ajmeri Gate. Later, it functioned for some time from Rakabganj Road, and then for almost 35 years from 14 Pandit Pant Marg. Now, the party has reached its own building on Deendayal Upadhyay Marg. This journey has been full of challenges but also remarkable,” Sachdeva added.
The new building, spread across 825 square metres, boasts of two basements that can accommodate 50 vehicles. The ground floor will have a conference room to hold press meets, along with a reception area, and a canteen. The first floor will have an auditorium with a capacity to hold around 300 people. The second and third floors of the building will have the offices of state general secretaries, secretaries and vice-presidents, while the top floor will house the offices of the Delhi BJP in-charge, the state president, and the organisational general secretary. BJP leaders said that the Navratri period is considered auspicious and the party leaders have decided to hold the inauguration ceremony during it.
The old office has limited space and several porta cabins have been set up to accommodate office-bearers. As the party has expanded, the need for space has increased multifold, leaders said. The new office is also closer to the national headquarters, the BJP leader quoted above said. The Public Works Department has developed a new concrete approach road from DDU Marg till the new office to improve its accessibility. The new office, constructed with modern facilities, is designed to further strengthen organizational activities and provide a centralised hub for party workers and leaders in the national capital.
The state-of-the-art office reflects the BJP’s commitment to efficient organizational functioning and outreach in Delhi. The new building is equipped with advanced communication systems, meeting halls, and dedicated spaces for coordination of party programs. This will be the third site from which the Delhi BJP will operate. The party earlier operated from a building near Ajmeri Gate, before relocating to the Pant Marg bungalow in 1989.
