The Ghaziabad Development Authority launched a massive tree plantation drive on Thursday - Jan Jan Ropan Braksha Ropan. The motive is to spread the message of the young Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on involving every man so tree plantation becomes a revolution.
At a Press conference, GDA Vice-Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav said 31 centres for plantation had been identified. These include 18 petrol pumps, a kerosene distributor, five gas suppliers and seven main parks.
These are Central Park in Raj Nagar, Kalaa Dhaam in Kavi Nagar, Nehru Stadium in Nehru Nagar, Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Park in Vaishali, Swarn Jayanti Park in Indirapuram and Dr Ram Manohar lohia Park in Sahibabad.
GDA has motivated builders and real estate developers of the city to pay cost of the trees directly to nurseries.
In addition, GDA has impressed upon its master plan department the need to keep a strict eye on progress in plantation in new layout plans.
The programme will be launched on August 1 and continue till August 15. plants will be distributed from 5.00 am to 9.00 am and from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm in the parks. At other places, timings would be from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Organising committees have been formed in trans-Hindon and Ghaziabad city.
