In order to free doctors from the non-clinical work at the Delhi Government hospitals, the State Health Department has set up a Delhi Health Corporation (DHC) which will look after all the non-clinical work such as maintenance of infrastructure in hospitals which includes making clean and green hospital, procurement of medicines, equipment, machines, and recruiting of security guards etc.

The Government has decided to hire professionals and experts such as Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree holders who will look after the managerial jobs.

Speaking to The Pioneer, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said, “It has been observed that about 30 to 40 per cent of doctor’s time is devoted for the non-clinical work as a result doctors are unable to provide much time to the patients. Doctors will only perform their clinical duties. Therefore, we have set up DHC to look after all the technician and non-clinical work.”

“It is not the duty of the doctor to look after infrastructure, damaged machines, equipment, medicines. From now on, doctors will only give medical treatment to the patients by providing them appropriate time,” the Health Minister said.

The DHC will start functioning within a month for which the department will float the advertisement in newspapers. The Health department will hire the professionals for the respective departments, said Jain.

The Government has decided to computerise the entire health sector by issuing health card to the patients and all the medical data of the patients will be store on internet through cloud computing. In this, all the polyclinics, hospitals, mohalla clinic will be connected and doctor at any of the Government hospitals or either private hospitals can access the records.
