High drama unfolded outside the office of Congress MlA Anil Bhardwaj in North West’s Pitampura area on Tuesday morning when a 42-yer-old man — identified as Ravinder Yadav — allegedly fired three rounds in the air from a toy pistol.

Yadav was under the influence of alcohol. He was reportedly agitated over the MlA from Trinagar assembly area for not taking his phone calls. The MlA was not present in his office at the time of incident and the accused was arrested from the spot. He was booked under Sections 307 of the IPC and Arms Act

Joint CP, Northern Range Tajendra luthra said that that the incident took place on Tuesday around 11 am when a resident of Shakurpur Colony came in a MlA’s office in Chanderlok and asked about him. However, the MlA was not present in his office.

“Yadav claimed that he is a Congress worker and wanted to meet the MlA. It is alleged that Yadav was drunk and he started using filthy language.

When his behavior was objected to, he came out of the office and took out the pistol and fired three rounds in the air,” luthra added.

The sound of the gun shots created panic in the area. Beat constables immediately reached at the spot and upon seeing them, the accused tried to escape but was apprehended. “Yadav has been placed under arrest and it has emerged that he fired three rounds from a toy pistol,” the officer added.

Police said that the accused owns a stone crusher and he identified himself as a Congress party worker.
