After failing to trace the culprit, who had raped and assaulted the six-year-old girl in a men’s toilet in Badarpur, the South-East district police are taking the photographs of 22 suspects for test identification parade (TIP).

Police sources said that the investigators are clicking the photographs of the 22 suspects, including a 15-year-old boy who was under scanner for his role in the rape and assault of the six-year-old. “We are preparing the digital collection after collecting the photographs of all the suspected persons as we have grilled all of them but still could not trace the main culprit. So after collecting their photographs, we will show it to the victim for the identification,” sources said.

The Delhi Police had already seized some person’s hairs from the spot and sent it for forensic examination. Following the investigation, it has emerged that the 15-year-old suspect, who has been living in the neighbourhood was following the victim for the past two weeks and keeping

track of her movements. It was also emerged that he had been seen loitering near the victim’s residence and also when the victim went to the toilet to bathe. “The suspected minor was the one who had informed the victim’s parents at their home about their daughter and he had gone washroom twice at the time of incident. The suspected minor was questioned by the investigators on Saturday but later he was released,” the sources added.

Investigators are also probing the role of drug addicts of the area and around 400 houses in the slum have been searched to nab the accused. The minor girl, who was allegedly raped, had apparently resisted the assault, which may be the reason for her serious throat injuries. “When we found the girl, she had held herself steadfast to the toilet wall. Her throat had been slit. It clearly appeared that she had resisted the assault,” the girl’s uncle told the police.

The incident came to light on last Friday when a 15-year-old had spotted the girl lying in an unconscious state near a public toilet in Badarpur, who later informed the victim’s parents who in turn approached the police. The girl was taken to a nearby medical store, from where she was taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre. The girl’s father is a balloon seller. The family from Uttar Pradesh had been living in a slum cluster near National Thermal Power Corporation plant in Badarpur for the past 25 years. The girl has seven siblings.
