Petroleum dealers' association to launch nationwide agitation

All India Petroleum Dealers’ Association on Monday decided to launch a nationwide agitation in two phases on October 19 and October 26. The association has decided to observe a “Blackout” for 15 minutes at all petrol pumps across the country.

Ajay Bansal, president of All India Petroleum Dealers’ Association, said, “In last two years, in spite of having so many false assurances by oil industry, we have always kept a positive approach but the poor increments in dealers’ margin, has left the whole dealer fraternity disheartened and highly dissatisfied.”

“During “Blackout” all lights will be switched off and sales will be suspended for the given 15 minutes, to highlight and push the dealers’ demand, which has been ignored since long even being raised earlier,” Bansal added.

The meeting was attended by 19 State associations and unanimous resolution was passed expressing their resentment and dissatisfaction against OMCs (Oil Marketing Companies) who were incapable to fulfil the long-pending legitimate demands which includes invoicing of supplies, toilet issues, transport tenders and the quantum of increase in dealers’ commission causing the Blackout in coming days.

All the 53,000 companies across the countries are participating in the agitation. Since OMC’s action is inadequate to fulfill the promises discussed in numerous meetings from last two years, the dealers are highly dissatisfied and forced to go for agitation.
