Aam Aadmi Party senior leader and MCD in-charge Durgesh Pathak on Monday warned the Bharatiya Janata Party ruled MCDs to pay the pending salaries of their employees within a week or to resign immediately.
The AAP leader criticised the BJP saying that the all three BJP-ruled MCDs failed to pay even salaries to its staff even after its combined budget is around Rs 18,000 crores. He said that if 20% of this Rs 18,000 crore budget was used properly, the situation would have been different.
“Today a nurse from the Hindu Rao hospital wrote a letter to the North Corporation mayor demanding her salary and a group of doctors from the Kasturba Gandhi Hospital wrote to the BJP ruled MCD and said that if they do not get their salary, then they will give mass resignations,” he said.
Nearly 8000 MCD teachers have threatened to go on strike if they do not get their salaries, Pathak said, adding that doctors have not received salary for three months and have written to Home Minister Amit Shah.
“Safai karamcharis, security guards and other officials of the Civic Centre and even the people who do small works under the wards have also not received their dues," Pathak alleged.
Vikas Goel, Leader of Opposition in north MCD said that being local councilors, we receive lot of complaints from the people regarding various issues but when we take up the matter with officials they always complain that they have not received their salaries, Goel added.
