Parents of Arman Sehgal, the Class IV student of GD Goenka Public school Indirapuram who died in the school premises met the Ghaziabad Police chief on Friday and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. Parents contended that the school administration has tampered with the evidence and deleted the CCTV footage of the corridor where Arman had slipped and died.
Arman's mother Swati Sehgal confronted the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) HN Singh when he assured her that police are investigating the case and the culprits would be arrested once evidence was gathered against them. Arman's father Gulshan Sehgal squarely blamed the school management for the death of his son and told the SSP to take exemplary action against those responsible for his son's death.
A livid mother then asked the SSP why the culprits have not been arrested despite police registering an FIRIJ She told the SSP that why only two CCTV cameras were not functioning the day his son died in the corridor of the school when all other cameras were fully functional, she asked.
At one point of time, she said that she would sit on dharna in SSP's office if he fails to arrest the principal of the school by Friday evening. The SSP heard the parents and assured them that nobody would be spared. Finally the SSP made them agree to wait till Monday.
Earlier the aggrieved parents submitted an application to the SSP in which they alleged that the school owner Ankur Malhotra, Smita Malhotra, Kavita Sharma, Meenakshi Dhingra, Shilpa Babbar and Sumit Anand have threatened them of dire consequences. They submitted that on Thursday at round 10 pm, they were waylaid by armed goons who pointed pistols on their head and asked them to negotiate with the owner of the school and settle the issue. They threatened that the police and the administrative machinery was in the hand of the school owners, the parents stated in their application.
Arman's mother alleged that she never demanded magisterial inquiry but it was ordered by the administration. She said it was just a ploy to cool down temperature generated due to the sudden death of an innocent child. Entire administrative exercise is an eye wash and is aimed at misleading the parents whose wards are studying in the school.
She alleged that it was not an accidental death of her son but her child was murdered. last year her child was rusticated from the school over fee dispute. He was allowed to continue only after she submitted an apology letter to the school. She was facing the school atrocities for the last six years during her child's stay in the school right from the Nursery.
Earlier the tragic incident had occurred in the school premises on Tuesday morning when Arman Sehegal (10) came to appear in the internal unit test of the school. He was going to the classroom situated on IInd floor. As he was walking through the corridor he slipped and collapsed. He was rushed to a nearby Shanti Gopal Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
