The governing body of UTTIPEC — under the chairmanship of lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung —approved the construction of a parallel flyover along the existing RTR Flyover. The Mehrauli-Mahipal Pur Road from Andheria Mor to Mahipal Pur were also approved.
In the meeting, convened on Wednesday, Jung approved the Phase - I proposal (from Andheria Mor to Aruna Asaf Ali Marg) including the detailing of the corridor with 75-metre road Right of Way (ROW) as per the Street Design Guidelines. The approved proposal includes the provision of cycle tracks, footpaths, green belts with trees, Multi Utility Zones (MUZ) with bus stops, among other amenities. In addition, three motor vehicle lanes in either direction will also be constructed.
For the parallel flyover along the existing RTR flyover project, Jung, approved the proposal consisting of a three-lane flyover on portal structure originating from the existing Flyover at Poorvi Marg linking Munirka flyover in the east and touching the ground at a point beyond RR hospital in the West.
The portal is expected to allow the traffic to move below the flyover, with minimal hindrance to the existing road. A one-way underpass with surface level road on both sides of the underpass starting from Benito Juarez Marg was also approved.
