Excitement of getting into Delhi University might turn into dejection for many students because of the overwritten and corrected common pre-admission forms being accepted at various Information Centres in colleges across the South Campus.
The overwritten forms or corrected ones are likely to be rejected as the entire process will depend on the OMR scanner to read them.
The clarity on filling the OMR forms is missing at various admission information centres of the colleges as students are ending up submitting forms with errors. Surprisingly, the officials at the counters are also accepting the forms without checking them. No help desks have been put up by some college administrations at various centres to help the aspirants.
While the assistance is provided by volunteers, the students are barely assisted with proper information. People accompanying the candidates are complaining of negligence and misinformation.
“I mistakenly darkened an inappropriate circle under my roll number, but I got it corrected with a whitening fluid. I have submitted the form at the counter and it has been accepted too,” said Shailender Yadav, who submitted form to the PGDAV College at Nehru Nagarfor BCom honours.
Another student at the centre had overwritten his name and went up to the submission counter to check if his form would be taken and the officials accepted it. When the authorities were asked whether forms corrected with fluid are accepted, they said the students should inform that the forms have been corrected and accepting or rejecting the form is up to the university to decide.
The Deputy Dean, Students Welfare Gulshan Sawhney underlined that the forms need to be filled very carefully as the entire process will depend on the OMR scanner to read them. “We have guided the volunteers and also mentioned in the admission booklet that the forms need to be filled neatly as they would be scanned. The overwritten forms or corrected ones are likely to be rejected,” he said.
Meanwhile, confusion over admission criteria continues to hover due to misinformation.
“There has been some misinformation about the eligibility criteria of BTech in Psychological Sciences as we have received many students, who are anxious about not having any scope in Psychology due to their Humanities background. The Psychology Honours has been converted into BTech Psychological Sciences which can be pursued by students from all background," said Kanica Khadelwal, Psychology Professor at lady Shri Ram College of Commerce.
She said students from all three streams will be treated at par for admission to BTech in Psychological Science. Over 90,000 OMR admission forms were sold on Friday, including 22,438 online submissions.
