Out on bail, man kills one on tantric advice

Hurt over his sister's suicide, coupled with the advice of a tantric that an outsider is responsible for his family's misfortunes led a 25-year-old murder convict, out on bail for month, to murder a 40-year-old man in Southeast Delhi's Badarpur area.

Delhi Police on Thursday claimed to have solved the murder of a man within 24 hours. Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) said, "Vikash, the accused in a 2014 murder case, came out on bail on January 19 for a month after his sister committed suicide. He has been arrested for the murder of a 40-year-old man, whose body was found lying near the Badarpur border,"

It took physically checking on 125 houses and scanning the dossiers of criminals which finally led to the arrest of Vikash, said police on Thursday.

"On the intervening night of Feb 18-19,  body of an unidentified man was found near the Badarpur border. Since the body had several stab wounds, the cops could not establish the identity. However, they found an abandoned motorcycle near the spot which led them to identified the deceased as Rakesh. Based on technical surveillance, police reached Rakesh's sister. She informed us that Rakesh was living at the house of Vikash," said Biswal.

Police dug out the dossiers and raided Vikash's residence in Surya Vihar, Faridabad.

On interrogation, Vikash denied knowing anything about Rakesh's murder but later, broke down and confessed about his involvement in the murder.

"Narrating what led him to fatally stab Rakesh, Vikash said it all started in 2014 when he was convicted in a murder case. In his absence, his mother, a worker at MCD brought Rakesh home.

However, a few months into Rakesh's entry into the house, he started misbehaving and used foul language with Vikash's mother and sister.

Vikash's sister informed Vikash about this. However, on January 18, she committed suicide. The next day, Vikash was allowed a month long bail. When he questioned everyone about his sister's tragic death, no one shared the reason. While walking through a busy market, he spotted a tantric who told Vikash that someone outside of the family had caused Vikash miseries.

On the night of Rakesh's murder, Vikash spotted him near a TSR stand and stabbed him with a knife. While Rakesh tried to flee, Vikash chased him and slit his throat," said Biswal.
