Opposition parties in Delhi criticised the AAP ruled Delhi Government for reducing the number of dry days to just three from the existing 21, saying that the move will hurt religious sentiments and benefit liquor mafias. Delhi State BJP president Adesh Gupta while questioning the Kejriwal Government’s new excise policy charged that Kejriwal is too restless to give benefits to liquor mafia because the two are sharing the money. “The government has permitted liquor sale on 18 such important festivals including Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, Mahavir Jayanti, Diwali and Holi,” he said.
Gupta said that the liquor worth Rs 50 crore is sold on a daily average in the national capital and annually it is about Rs 20,000 crore. He alleged that the Government is clearly giving benefits to liquor mafia so that it can take its share as well from that amount earned during these extra 18 days,” he added.
