Opening of sealed lock: SC adjourns plea against Tiwari

The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday adjourned the plea against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Delhi president Manoj Tiwari filed against him for breaking the sealed lock of a house in North-East Delhi. The SC fixed October 30 as the next date of hearing.

“I am firm on my previous stand. In the name of Supreme Court, the Monitoring Committee in connivance with the corrupt officers is harassing the people of Delhi by adopting pick and choose policy. Livelihood of lakhs of people of Delhi has been affected due to this,” Tiwari told media after the hearing.

He said they are demanding action against the guilty persons by submitting proof of their corrupt conduct before the SC. “Our objective is to apprise the Supreme Court about the corruption on the pretext of sealing in Delhi and ensure justice to the innocent citizens of Delhi from illegal sealing by the Monitoring Committee,” he said.

Members of Parliament Ramesh Bidhuri and Udit Raj among others accompanied him to the court.

The Delhi BJP president had broken the seal lock of a house in Gokulpuri Village on September 16 in protest against the ‘pick and choose’ sealing policy of Monitoring Committee appointed by SC.

“I have broken the seal of a house in Gokulpuri and I will not stop here. I will go to every locality where illegal sealing is being done. I have taken a pledge. I will not tolerate any ‘pick and choose’ action. This is facilitating corruption. Municipal officials are indulging in corruption in the name of sealing by the monitoring committee,” Tiwari had said.
