Having granted approval to the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP), the Delhi University is starting open days — interactive sessions with the aspiring students and their parents from Monday next week. It will continue till the month end.

The university administration said this was a routine exercise yet it assumes greater significance in wake of the four-year course which is being implemented from his academic session.

“Now that everything has been finalised, the admission processes are going to start from June 5. We are starting the open days to brief the students like every year through presentations and discussion with their parents. The admission process will remain the same only with slight changes in the selection of courses on the admission forms. This time the main focus will be on the FYUP. The primary step for students should be to decide on the selection of the Dicipline-I Courses which is going to be their major. After elaborating them on the new courses, we will have a question and answer to clarify there doubts,” said JM Khurrana, Dean of Students Welfare in Delhi University.

He said the university had notified about the date on which admission forms would be available and the bulletin of information will also be given around the same time next month. The university has announced the first two days of the interactive session would be held at the North Campus.

“We are starting it at the North Campus and will slowly take it to South Campus as well. It will continue for next 15 days at least. All the deans including the dean of faculties, principals will be together to explain and clear the doubts of the students on the next academic session,” he added.

He said the further schedule for the sessions would be announced shortly.

“This is going to be a unique opportunity for students to get first hand information and clear orientation on all aspects related to admissions and courses under our new UG programme of study,” he underlined.

The Delhi University has come in light on the restructuring of its three-year bachelors degrees into a four-year undergraduate programme from the next academic session. It received a nod from the Academic Council and the Executive Council, the top most body of the university in this week.
