Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken on Wednesday held the Arvind Kejriwal Government and the BJP-ruled MCDs responsible for the waterlogging and flooding in Delhi as such situation had not happened in the last seven years.
Addressing a Press conference, Maken said that Only 30 per cent desiliting had been done till July 5 though according to norms, the desilting exercise should have been completed by May 15. Out of the total number of 1,005 PWD roads under the Delhi Government's control, desilting was completed only on 311 roads, which was merely 30.95 per cent, as on July 5, 2016. Both the BJP and the AAP are blaming each other."
Maken said it was very irresponsible on the part of the PWD department of the Delhi Government that out of the total number of 317 roads in East Delhi, desilting was carried out only on 35 roads by 5 July, where as in North Delhi, desilting was done only on 267 roads, out of a total of 432. He said South Delhi was the worst offender in this regard, as desilting was completed only on nine roads out of 256 under the PWD department.
