The race for the admissions to the Delhi University began on Monday with the parents and students flooding north Campus for queries and counseling on the first Open Day session. More than 600 students and parents attended the Open Sessions on the admissions at the Conference Centre of the varsity where the officials addressed them. The online registration began at 5.00 pm in the evening. Within one and half hour of commencement of the registration process, about 6,300 applicants were registered. The two most sought after courses are BCom and BA (Hons) English.

The Open Day’s session will continue for 10 days. Not only students but many school principals and parents attended this event. It was observed that the student and parent presence was less than the previous year as the online registration were started then with the university’s going digital.

The Deputy Dean of Delhi University, Gurpreet Singh Tuteja told The Pioneer that the online admissions has made the whole process much easier, faster and organised.  Tuteja said,” Queries on cut offs, online forms, eligibility criteria and courses are among the most popular questions asked by the parents and the students.”

“For those who cannot fill the online forms themselves, a help desk is provided in the campus and the faculty helps the students with their enquires and their forms.”

“Between 6 pm and 6:10 pm, we saw around 200 online registrations. If the present momentum continues, we can expect around 10,000 applications on the first day,” said an official associated with admissions department.

The online registrations for admissions to undergraduate programmes began today at 6 pm for its 60 UG courses in 62 colleges affiliated with the varsity with around 54,000 seats.

However, aspirants were held up waiting to access the registration page - https://ug.Du.Ac.In/app/ - which was burdened due to the initial rush.

The varsity is scheduled to announce its first cut-off list on June 20. As of now, six cut-off dates have been announced. However, further cut-off lists may be announced depending on vacant seats in colleges, an official statement said.
