In a major development, a Delhi Police team has recovered one of the SUVs used in the killing of former INlD MlA Bharat Singh, alias Bharte. The vehicle was recovered from Haryana’s Sonipat district on Wednesday. Police source said that the location of one of the accused, Virendra, alias Bholu, had also been traced to the same place. Bholu is believed to have escaped in the same vehicle after gunning down Bharte on Sunday.
The black colour Scorpio SUV has been recovered from Kharkhoda village in Sonipat on Wednesday morning, source said. “Blood stains was also found in car’s mat and rear seat,” said the source. The vehicle bore a fake registration number which read as HR 99 2207. The investigators suspect that the car was stolen from somewhere and was used in the crime. The Scorpio was also seen in the CCTV footage collected from the spot. Two more SUVs were used by the killers who had come fully prepared for the murderous assault.
The Pioneer on Monday had reported that during the attack on Bharte at Abhinandan Vatika, a slight exchange of fire had also taken place between the attackers and Bharte’s security men. It has been revealed that during the exchange of fire, one of the attackers was shot at in his leg but managed to flee Banquet Hall in Nazafgarh area with his help of fellow gang members. During investigation, police found that Bholu, one of the main shooters, was hiding somewhere in Sonipat, sources said. Bholu’s involvement in the incident was seen as a personal revenge from Bharte, who had slapped the former’s aunt (bua) over a land dispute.
Police investigation, so far, points towards Udaiveer, alias Kale, as the main conspirator who convinced the rivals of Bharte and his elder brother Krishan Pehalwan to execute the plan. It may be recalled that the gang war between the two factions began after Kale’s father was killed by Pehalwan’s shooter during a gang war in Sonipat in 2005.
