Amid the Excise Policy controversy, the Delhi Government is expected to call a one day Assembly session on Friday. Discussions on the ongoing Excise Policy row are expected to be held during the one day session of the Seventh Legislative Assembly.
Top sources said that the Chief Minister desires the approval of the Council of Ministers to be obtained through a circular. The BJP and AAP have been locking horns over alleged irregularities in the liquor policy of the Delhi Government that is currently being probed by the CBI. The Opposition BJP has been demanding a session to discuss the Excise Policy and has also been demanding the resignation of both Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on this issue.
Leader of Opposition, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri has been questioning how the “Council of Ministers approved the opening of liquor shops in non- conforming area under the Excise Policy.” “They have also misled the House when asked about the issue.
Sisodia stated in a written reply that the policy is under consideration while the document said that the Excise Policy has been approved in November last year by the Cabinet,’ Bidhuri alleged. Facing a CBI probe in the Excise Policy, Sisodia had on Monday said that he was offered the Chief Minister's post by the BJP and closure of all cases against him if he quit the AAP and joined the saffron outfit.
Sisodia has been supported in his claim by Arvind Kejriwal, who said that raids by CBI were attempts to topple his Government in Delhi, just like it has been done by the saffron outfit in other parts of the country.
