To make sanitation services better in its areas, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Friday launched a comprehensive plan wherein one agency will be responsible for sanitation related work.
This is a departure from the existing system where different agencies were responsible for garbage collection, transportation and disposal. According to the civic body, one concessionaire will be appointed in each of the four administrative zones — Central, South, West and Najafgarh — to carry out sanitation work.
South Delhi Municipal Commissioner Manish Gupta said the tenders have been floated for appointing the agencies and the contract would be awarded by June end. leader of House in South Delhi Municipal Commissioner, Subhash Arya said as per the new plan, garbage would be segregated at the source itself.
