An unidentified body of an elderly man was found in Geeta Colony outside a Mohalla clinic on Thursday morning. Police suspect that he froze to death as he was found lying in a canal near the clinic, police said.
It is suspected that the man was sleeping on the canal as police found him covered in thin blankets. The man was taken to a nearby hospital and was declared brought dead on arrival. The body has been transferred to the mortuary.
Prima Facie, police suspect that the man died of natural causes. “As of now we suspect it was a natural death. The probable cause of death is due to cold. Nothing suspicious till now,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shadhara) Meghna Yadav said.
Police are further investigating the case to establish the identity of the deceased.
