The grade separated entry is required to segregate the traffic destined for station from the mixed traffic headed for Chandni Chowk and Old Delhi area.

“Operational infrastructure improvements include renewal of all washing lines, strengthening of water supply system, through provisioning of water recycling plant, water treatment plant and replacement of water pipelines, strengthening of sewerage disposal system and new sewerage treatment plant and new sewer lines. State of the art integrated station control room,” said Arun Arora, Divisional Railway Manager, Delhi Division of Northern Railway.

The entire cost of the project is estimated at Rs 565 crore, including two ROBs at Rs 200 crore each and other Rs 165 crore on other renovations and operational infrastructure. Senior officials in the railway department said the Delhi Division has written a letter to Delhi Chief Secretary seeking partnership in the construction of the railway bridges. It has been learnt that the Delhi Division of Northern Railways is yet to the Railway Ministry to seek approval from the plan.

Inside the station building, world class waiting hall-upper class, second class and ladies on both sides, food plaza, executive lounges on both the sides of station buildings.
