A Delhi Court on Tuesday dismissed the bail plea of Okhla's AAP MlA Amanatullah Khan, arrested for allegedly threatening a woman after she visited his residence to raise the issue of power cuts, and sent him to judicial custody till August 9. More trouble is in store for Khan as another FIR was registered against him for allegedly threatening a group of locals, who were protesting in his Assembly constituency against water scarcity, power cuts, underdevelopment and other civic issues.
The complainants said they along with other protesters had organised a protest between July 15 and 17 against the AAP-led Delhi Government for ignoring development and other issues in their residential area.
“We were holding a peaceful protest to raise issues like underdevelopment of Okhla, worst civic condition, deteriorated condition of roads and lanes, improper drainage and garbage disposal system, and lack of basic amenities like electricity, water, health, hygiene and public schools,” the complainants said in the complaint.
On July 16 at 9.30 pm, the Okhla MlA along with 25 people arrived at the protest venue and allegedly threatened the organisers with dire consequences if the protest was not called off immediately.
Police said an FIR was registered under relavant sections of IPC and investigation in the matter has been started.
