In an effort to ensure effective governance to benefit citizens of the national capital, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday announced the launch of an annual awards programme to honour officers and departments delivering exemplary performance in their respective fields. The award categories include Best Engineer, Best Department, Best SDM and Best DM.

She also directed that regular public hearings must be organised in every district to ensure that citizens’ grievances are addressed directly. The Chief Minister specified that detailed schedules of such hearings should be submitted to the Chief Minister’s Office in a timely manner.

She also ordered the early disposal of pending certificates (such as income and caste certificates) and asked officers to suggest reforms in certificate-related policies.

Chairing a high-level meeting with District Magistrates, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Sub-Registrars and other officials of the Revenue Department, Rekha Gupta said they must work with honesty, public interest, and transparency, as the image of the government is determined by their own conduct.

She stated that during the Kanwar Yatra and floods, officials had demonstrated remarkable commitment and set an example, and she expressed hope that such dedicated work would continue in the future as well. The Chief Minister assured the senior officials that she stands firmly with them in their correct decisions.

The review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dharmendra, Divisional Commissioner Neeraj Semwal, and other senior officials. The Chief Minister outlined her Government’s priorities, stressing that rapid efforts are required to transform the capital into a truly ‘Viksit Delhi’.

She emphasised that administrative systems are being strengthened in close coordination with officers. Rekha Gupta praised those who worked round the clock to manage flood emergencies and the Kanwar Yatra, commending in particular the Divisional Commissioner and District Magistrates  Chaitanya, Amol Srivastava, G Sudhakar.

Looking ahead, she directed that upcoming public events such as Ramleela and Durga Puja must be managed through a single-window system, similar to the arrangements during the Kanwar Yatra, ensuring that the public faces no inconvenience. The chief Minister instructed that all necessary permissions be issued in a time-bound manner, and stressed that full responsibility must be taken for security, healthcare, sanitation, and traffic management.

The Chief Minister further stated that there must be zero encroachment on government land in the capital. She instructed officials to take concrete measures to remove illegal occupations, construct boundary walls, and prevent any future encroachments. She reminded officers that their conduct is a direct reflection of the government- integrity enhances credibility, while negligence invites criticism.

Additionally, she directed that a list be prepared of farmers whose crops were damaged by the floods so that they may receive appropriate compensation from the government.

The Chief Minister highlighted the national importance of the ‘One District, One Product’ campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting its impact across the country.

She directed officials to identify the unique products and specialities of each district in Delhi for effective marketing and branding, and instructed that reports on this initiative be submitted.

Emphasising the need for sensitivity and coordination, Rekha Gupta said the Delhi Government is working to ensure better synergy between districts and municipal zones so that citizens’ needs are addressed more efficiently.

Rekha Gupta reaffirmed her government’s commitment to building a transparent, accountable, and citizen-centric administration as part of the vision of a ‘Viksit Delhi’.
