leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta has urged the Election Commission to deliver its verdict on 21 AAP MlAs in office of profit case without any further delay.
Stressing on justice delayed is justice denied and in this case the justice is been delayed, Gupta expressed concern at the delay and said that he plans to meet Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Naseem Jaidi shortly alongwith other BJP MlAs to press for early verdict.
“In this important case involving the fate of Delhi Government and MlAs, any more delay would defeat the purpose of the petition.” The erring MlAs continue to enjoy the powers and privileges of the House with impunity,” he added further.
BJP leader further said that the hearing concluded on March 27 this year, and now the ruling has been reserved. “More than three months have elapsed causing worry. After the President rejected the bill, the Delhi High Court set aside such appointments made by the Delhi Government, Election Commission promptly started hearing the matter to decide if the MlAs were to be disqualified,” said Gupta.
He urged that the decision must come at the earliest. “Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) has adopted delaying tactics from the beginning and doesn’t want the verdict to come out so that its MlAs could enjoy the power,” he said.
