In his first public rally in the Capital, Narendra Modi had a message of unity for the Delhi BJP leaders. At the opening of his speech, heard by nearly two lakh people at the venue, Modi sought to bring together leaders of various warring factions within the party fold.
Referring to the Delhi BJP leaders Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Vijay Goel and Vijender Gupta, he said Delhi was the only State in the country which has a number of ‘Vijays’ and exuded confidence that the party would achieve vijay (victory) in the Delhi Assembly polls.
“Delhi is one State in India where the BJP has a number of ‘Vijays’. As vijay means victory, I am confident the BJP under the leadership of Vijay Malhotra, Vijay Goel and Vijender Gupta will emerge victorious in the Delhi Assembly polls,” Modi said, lauding them at the start of his discourse. This elated the leaders present on the podium with Modi who said the party was united and would collectively fight to dislodge
the Congress-led Delhi Government. “The Delhi BJP leaders are brimming with confidence. We are committed to fight collectively and dislodge the Congress-led Delhi Government. An appreciation from a leader of Narendra Modi’s stature has boosted the morale of party workers,” said former Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta. Meanwhile, former BJP president and Delhi incharge Nitin Gadkari and co-incharge Navjot Singh Sidhu accused the Government of failing to provide city dwellers with basic amenities and high water and power tariffs.
“The Congress-led Government in Delhi has failed on all fronts. The Congress leaders are restless. The reason is that they are afraid of Modi’s leadership,” said Gadkari. Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel too charged the Government for cheating people residing in unauthorised colonies and promised them all facilities if BJP was elected to power. Goel said the overwhelming response from people made this rally memorable and historic. He said the response from the people clearly indicated ‘a strong pro-BJP mood’ in Delhi.
