The Delhi Government’s odd and even scheme for plying of private vehicles in the city to be implemented from 8 AM to 8 PM from January1, 2016, has put vehicle owners in a fix.

Ghaziabad resident Ravi Kumar Singh, who has two cars but both with the even number plates said, “The decision of the Government is impractical. It will create more problems for the people who will drive their vehicles before 8am. Many a time people are stuck in traffic jams, most of the times there are situation of break down… so what will a person do at that time.”

Citing his unhappiness over the Government’s decision, Tarun, who is a businessman, said, “We have three cars, of which two are even and one car has odd number plate. In my family all are working. If we start before 8 am, definitely, we won’t be able to reach office on time. And if by chance we get stuck somewhere in the middle of the road, it will invite trouble.”

Sandeep Nayyar, a businessman of North Delhi, too is faced with dilemma as to how he will travel in the city for office work. Inderpreet Singh of Roshanara Road too is a worried man. Criticising Government’s pilot project aimed at reducing air pollution in the city, they said the Government should ensure sale of unadulterated fuel to minimise pollution and they should also address the issue of construction dust and also strengthen norms for anti-pollution checks.

Restricting vehicles on the basis of registration numbers in lopsided, they said.
