A nursing attendant has been arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police for allegedly plotting to kill an elderly couple in order to commit theft at their house in south Delhi's Khanpur area. The accused, Aakash Patel (24), has been arrested.
He has been accused of collaborating with his brother-in-law to murder the couple. It has also been alleged that Patel had made contact with criminal based out in Western Uttar Pradesh to execute the plan. A pistol and four live cartridges have been recovered from Patel. “He has been charged under section 25 of the Arms Act,” said PS Kushwah, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).
The murder plot came to light when two inspector rank officers- Sanjay Gupta and Rajesh Kumar received information that Patel was planning a dacoity at the house of the elderly couple. The couple aged 92 and 85 years old had hired Patel around three months ago.
When the police were tipped off by their sources, they were informed that Patel had a diploma in Nursing Midwifery. “We found that he was hired by a company Unified Homecare located in Khanpur, Delhi. The couple has three children out of which two of them are settled abroad while the other stays outside Delhi,” Kushwah said.
After developing the information, the Special Cell team was dispatched to Khanpur where the accused was arrested on May 30. During his questioning, the accused reportedly told the police that he completed his diploma in General Nursing Midwifery from Gwalior and after working as a nursing staff at the hospital he quit due to low pay.
“He shifted to Delhi right after that and was deputed to look after the couple. The accused got to know that the couple was very well off and had jewellery and cash at their house,” Kushwah said.
He also looked at the place where the elderly woman was keeping her valuables,” Kushwah said.
