Nursery admissions to begin on Jan 1; no changes in process

The Delhi Government on Tuesday notified the schedule for nursery admissions in the national Capital, which will begin on January 1 with no deviation from the earlier process.

The Directorate of Education has also asked private, unaided recognised schools to not process the admission of Economically Weaker Section/Disadvantaged Group category students manually as the department is in the process of developing a module for online admission under the category.

The admission process which will begin from January 1 will conclude on March 31. While the last date for submitting the application is January 22, the first list will be displayed on February 15 followed by another list on February 29.

A circular issued by the Directorate of Education stated, “All the private unaided recognised schools shall upload the details of children who apply for admission under Open Seats and marks allotted to each of them by the schools under their point system, on the module developed by the department.”

The schools have been directed to conduct admissions and draw of lots, if any, in a transparent manner preferably in the presence of parents. DoE has also directed that the schools shall also publicise their admission criteria on their website, if available, also well in advance before the start of admission process for public view. Nursery admissions in Delhi schools are done on the basis of a point system.

“Further, the schools shall display the admission criteria (along with the points for each criterion) and total number of seats available at entry level classes on a flex board, prominently, at the entrance of the school and shall upload the compliance of the same in form of photograph on the directorate’s website,” the circular said.

All schools are also supposed to follow the rules communicated by the department earlier including that on upper age limit, prospectus, processing fee, quantum of minimum seats at entry level and documents as valid proof of address.
