NRI murder: 2 bagmen get bail

A city court on Saturday granted bail to two bagmen arrested for the manslaughter of NRI, Anmol Sarna. The released, Bhuwan Sharma and Nehul, were held for allegedly helping Sarna’s friends in wangling the hallucinogen ingested at the rave on the night Anmol died.

Metropolitan Magistrate Deepak Wason granted bail to the drug pushers on a personal bond of `25,000 with a surety of a similar denomination.

Meanwhile, court remanded Dushyant lamba, also arrested along with Bhuwan and Nehul in connection with the supply of drugs, to two days judicial remand after police did not seek his custody. lamba is a drug trafficker who got embroiled into the trade in January 2013.

Before the bust, the trio had tried destroying evidence. The three were nabbed on Friday from Noida. Two were freed on bail after police failed to show recovery of contraband.

Meanwhile, the judge also pulled up Delhi Police saying that instead of investigating the homicide, they are investigating the supply of controlled substances instead. He added that it can be conducted laterally but murder probe was paramount. Nine persons have been captured till now in connection with the case (involvement in murder and trade of narcotics).

Anmol Sarna died early on September 14 after he attended a party at a friend’s residence in Kalkaji on September 13 evening. Police said Anmol and his friends — Shivank Gambhir, Madhav Bhandari, Pranil Shah and Ritham Girhotra — had taken drugs at Pranil’s house. Police said that the cell phones seized would be sent to the Forensic Science laboratory.

Surender Bali (40) and Naresh Mishra (60), guards posted at the colony, have been caught under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for causing blunt force injuries to Anmol’s head with their batons after the NRI allegedly created a brouhaha at his friend’s place.

Shivank, Madhav, Ritham and Pranil — in their 20s — have already been held under Sections 22/27/29 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPSA) for consumption of the psychedelic drug.

Anmol’s cohorts and the security guards are lodged in Tihar Jail till September 30. On Friday, the court had also rejected bail applications of the four associates. Shivank Gambhir’s father has also been questioned by the Delhi Police.
