With nine deaths and 931 cases of dengue recorded in Noida till date, the number of patient is increasing with each passing day. Even as Government and private hospitals see a spate in the number of cases, authorities remained indifferent towards the menace spreading across the city. The Chief Medical Officer, GB Nagar RK Garg, however, denied any death in the district caused by dengue. The CMO cited lack of records in this regard.
Though the Noida authority became active in the last few days with a special fogging plan, which is now visible in the city, poor medical facility and lack of doctors at Dr BR Ambedkar Multi Specialty hospital, Sector-30, Noida failed to deal with the dengue patients.
On Monday, 150 dengue patients were admitted in district hospital and are being treated. There are two patients on one bed due to shortage of beds. According to doctors around 2,800 patients are being attended in the OPD on daily basis, while ESIC hospital is catering over 3,000 patients every day. However, the district administration has posted only eight physicians to treat the dengue patients.
While talking to The Pioneer, MN Mathur, Chief Medical Superintendent, District hospital said, “We have six physicians and also added two more on Friday from adjacent pediatric hospital to treat the patients. The number of patients has increased in last four days but situation has been brought under control. Medicine and surgical wards have been opened to facilitate the hospitalisation of dengue patients. Also the authorities have provided 40 additional beds in adjacent pediatric hospital but we need more doctors”, Dr Mathur said.
The maximum cases of dengue have been reported in the areas of sector-5, 8, 9, 10, 15,31,35,49, and 36 respectively. last month, residents of Suptertech Capetown, a residential township in Sector-74 had protested for dengue outbreak on their premises where 22 dengue positive cases were found.
District Magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar NP Singh has directed doctors to admit dengue patients coming to hospital and provide them treatment anyhow. “We have asked all private hospitals to charge Rs 600 for dengue test and Rs 50 for platelets test. We have also directed CMO to monitor private hospitals.”
Meanwhile, the private hospitals are charging Rs 18,00 to 21,00 for dengue Aliyaza test. “We are taking Rs 600 for rapid kit dengue test and Rs 50 for platelets counts on DM’s order. But when a patient is serious then we conduct Aliyaza dengue test which provide accurate result.” said Dr. B Joshi, Public Relation Officer, Kailash Hospital, Noida.
Chief Executive Officer of Noida Authority Rama Raman has directed for excessive anti-fogging in the city. A 20-member team is working to inspect dengue larva in the city.
NP Singh, President, Federation of Noida Resident Welfare Association (FONRWA) accused NOIDA of not taking action plan earlier to control breeding larva. “Authority officials were not serious to control dengue in the city. They had made plans but could not implement them seriously to prevent it. As like capital, when the situation became worse in last one week in Noida, they wake-up for excessive fogging.” Said NP Singh.
