Now, Irrigation dept given charge to develop unauthorised colonies

The Delhi Government has handed over the charge of the development of the unauthorised colonies in the national Capital to the Irrigation and Flood Control Department in addition to the the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC).

The proposal of the Urban Development Department of entrusting the development work to the respective authorises was approved by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister had reviewed the developmental works in unauthorised colonies on August 25 where it had emerged that the work is in several stages.

“The work of unauthorised colonies where the development works had been completed. Colonies where the works have been sanctioned and are in progress. Colonies where the estimates are yet to be prepared, but colonies have been identified and  colonies where work has not started,” he had noted.

“It was therefore felt that DSIIDC is the only executing agency for carrying out development works related to construction of roads and drains and there is a need to engage another agency in order to expedite developmental works in unauthorised colonies,” said a statement.

It also said the Finance Department shall provide additional funds to the executing agencies for developmental works in unauthorised colonies.
