Now, BJP to reach out to voters through jingles

Published on:

With the campaigning by its various MPs coming to an end on Saturday, the Delhi BJP will now directly reach out to city dwellers through pre-recorded calls. Besides, the party will rope in star campaigners, who would directly seek votes for the party in the upcoming polls through these calls. The theme decided by the State unit would be ‘good governance’ for the national Capital.

Even as the Election Commission is yet to announce election schedule, the fledgling Aam Aadmi Party has gone full throttle with its electioneering using radio, hoardings and text messages. The BJP, which until now has been busy with Jan Sabhas addressed by around 300 of its MPs across the 70 constituencies is all set to shift its focus to similar modes of promotion.

Star campaigners like Kirron Kher, Hema Malini, Navjot Singh Sidhu and above all Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself are likely to speak to you over the phone and radio. The party would also launch a series of radio jingles and social media campaigns starting December 20, which would later gear up by January first week.

The focus of the radio campaign would be development. “No false commitments would be made in our voice notes. Our focus will be on Modi’s development model wherein we will propagate what the Centre has done in six months. Jan Dhan Yojna, Smart Cities, Wi-fi connectivity will have a mention,” said Ashwini Upadhyay, Delhi unit BJP spokesperson.

With the absence of a chief ministerial candidate in the upcoming Delhi polls, the party will be relying on Modi’s stature to woo Delhiites.

Interestingly, the party claims that it is way ahead of its counterparts; the AAP and the Congress in its social media campaign, in terms of ‘hits’ and ‘trends.’ The information technology cell of the BJP asserts that the AAP’s Facebook page gets 3,000 like a day, while the BJP gets 10,000 likes in a day.

“Our aim is to reach out to the internet users, giving them a positive campaign, unlike other political parties doing negative campaign. The social media campaign at the BJP is entirely based on development,” said Sumit Bhasin, associated with party’s IT unit.

Meanwhile, the party would also intensify its membership drive starting December 20, on its 12,000 polling booths emphasising on areas where the party had performed badly in the last Assembly polls. Booth-level officers would visit door-to-door, and enroll maximum members into the party.
