The Delhi Government on Tuesday issued another warning to private schools in the Capital, which are yet notify their criteria for nursery admissions. They were directed to issue the notification in this regard by December 31 or face action.
According to data available with Directorate of Education (DOE), 324 out of 1,737 private schools have not notified their criteria yet despite passing of two deadlines.
The DoE had asked all the unaided recognised schools to “develop and adopt criteria for admission which shall be clear, well defined, equitable, non-discriminatory, unambiguous and transparent”. The schools were asked to upload the criteria adopted for admission to entry level classes (other than those for economically-weaker sections and disadvantaged groups) for the academic session 2016-17 on the directorate’s website latest by December 20.
However, after over 1,300 schools failed to meet the deadline, DoE issued a notice warning the schools of strict action if the directive was not complied with latest by December 25. “It has been observed that some of the schools have still not submitted the admission criteria to be adopted for the admission for the session 2016-17. Principals of all such school are hereby again directed to immediately upload the same by December 31.
The instruction has been issued for strict compliance,” a DoE circular sent to schools said. “Once the admission criteria is uploaded and the school start receiving applications from January 1, it shall award the points to the applicant on the basis of Points System already decided and submitted to the Directorate,” it added.
