The Delhi BJP has set four days deadline for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government to issue notification on the newly-constituted municipal zones in the national Capital. BJP leaders alleged that the work of civic bodies is suffering in its absence.
Delhi Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) president and MP Manoj Tiwari along with the leader of opposition (loP) in the legislative Assembly Vijendra Gupta on Thursday forewarned about the launch of a mass movement against Arvind Kejriwal Government if the city Government did not notify it by Monday.
The administration of three municipal corporations have forwarded proposals regarding the reorganisation of the jurisdiction of zones about 45 days back, but due to political malice, the file has been left unattended by the Delhi Government for a over a month. Although the Mayors of all three municipal corporations and many other leaders have met the Chief Minister and Satyendra Jain a couple of times but they are denying their approval, Tiwari said.
"AAP which had lost in the MCD elections recently, is all set to take revenge from the people of Delhi and with this motive it is not allowing the BJP leadership to work in the Municipal Corporations, and if the Government does not approve the ward notification by this Monday then the councillors and workers of Delhi BJP will address this issue to the people of Delhi", said Tiwari.
The elected councillors are not getting funds as the Standing Committees and Ward Committees of the Municipal Corporations are not being formed and the system of Municipal Corporations has come to a halt. There will be a peril of the outbreak of diseases like Dengue, Chikunguniya and Malaria as intense monsoon rains are likely to strike Delhi soon. This improper functioning has in turn affected the administration of Municipal Schools and Hospitals.
"It is ironical that the Government which calls the session of the legislative Assembly for the assessment for the work of Municipal Corporations on a regular basis is today unwilling on the issue of reorganisation of Zonal Offices of the three municipal corporations. Many new wards have been formed by joining two wards or at many places one ward has been divided into two wards. The work of reorganising the zonal offices is the duty of the Urban Development Ministry of Delhi Government", Vijender Gupta said.
