The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has issued notice to Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya hospital over the death of a girl due to unavailability of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the hospital.
DCW has asked the hospital to submit by December 6 this year.
"It was reported that the girl was diagnosed with Pneumonia and was admitted in the hospital on 19th November 2018.
Her condition deteriorated on Sunday. Doctors advised to have her admitted in the ICU, but due to unavailability, parents of the deceased child requested doctors to refer her to any other hospital, but nobody listened to them. The girl child died in the late night on Sunday," DCW spokesperson stated.
DCW chairperson Ms. Swati Maliwal has expressed anger over the death of girl and has sought certain information from the hospital.
The commission has asked the hospital to provide reasons for not providing ICU to the child and not referring the child to other hospital.
The commission in their notice has asked the hospital to conduct an inquiry in the matter and asked for details of persons responsible for death of the girl and has asked the hospital to take action against responsible persons.
"Apart from this, DCW has sought information about availability of ICU and steps taken by the hospital to do away with the scarcity of ICUs in the hospital," DCW spokesperson stated in their official release.
