Northern Railways claimed to have achieved another milestone by transporting 203.65 lakh tonnes food grains to 18 different States of the country.
Rajiv Chaudhry, General Manager of North Central and Northern Railway said that despite the operational challenges faced due to nationwide lockdown, Northern Railway has risen to the occasion to ensure enhanced availability of food grains under ‘public distribution system’ at ration shops in various deficient states.
“It has made four times new records of single day food grains loading. On 24th July,20 highest single day food grain loading of 55 rakes breaking the previous three records in recent past. During the lockdown and unlock period, the northern railway has loaded 4492 rakes of food grains (12.66 million tonnes) which is 6.86 million tonnes higher (118.41per cent higher) than previous year,” he said.
