The Noida authority has decided to construct its own commercial kiosks in markets and other commercial places in an attempt to tackle encroachments and improve the aesthetics of the city.
The authority has also launched an anti-encroachment drive in nearly 40 sectors of the city and will replace haphazardly built shops and kiosks with its own.
Noida authority has hired a Delhi-based company -- Monika Architecture -- for this work. The Authority will open around 40 kiosks in Sector-4 and Sector-16 from next week. The kiosks will be allotted to those people whose shops were closed by Noida Authority during anti-encroachment drive.
A detailed presentation regarding the model of proposed kiosks was given before the authority two days ago and the officials decided that the shops will be made keeping in mind the standard of the sectors. The authority will not allow opening mutton and chicken shops in posh sectors of the city. Initially, authority will make vegetable shops in Sector 4, Sector 16 and Sector 40. Noida Authority will construct these shops on unused land in various sectors.
"To provide all eatables and other items at one booth in sectors of the city, the kiosks will be constructed by authority itself. The authority will allot these shops to the shopkeepers by lottery system. Authority will further increase their number as per the requirement of the residents of the sectors" said AK Goel, Chief Maintenance Officer, Noida Authority.
The kiosks have been designed in such a manner that eatable shops will be constructed opposite to meat shops. The colour of these shops will also be different to each other. Vegetable shops will be painted green while mutton and chicken shops will be in red. Health department will provide dustbins near the proposed shops and it will be accountable for sanitation work, added Goel.
