To promote cultural and social activities, Noida authority has decided to construct a socio-cultural centre. The world-class centre will be constructed on lines of India Habitat Centre and will be called the Noida Habitat Centre (NHC).
It will come up in Sector 34 at a cost of Rs 100 crore, which is to be borne by the Noida suthority. The 15-acre NHC will have an auditorium, conference hall, banquet hall, clubs, fitness centre, de-stress centre, yoga centre, a world class library and restaurants. Construction work is likely to begin from July and completed within 18 months. An announcement was made by Noida authority officials in its board meeting last month. They have decided to appoint a consultant before the end of the week and invited expressions of interest (EoI) from several companies recently.
“As we had announced to construct a socio-cultural centre last month, many companies have shown their interest on our EoI. We will finalise a company soon,” said Manoj Rai, officer on special duty (OSD) of Noida Authority. PK Agarwal, Additional CEO of Noida Authority, said the purpose behind the construction of NHC is to attract State-level cultural and social activities as there is no such centre in Noida to hold any large event.
“With this move, city will be able to host private as well as Government events, besides film festivals and musical events. Apart from this, NHC will also organise cultural programmes and seminars for the local residents, businessmen, industrialists and other professionals,” he said.
“The NHC will become a favourite spot for various kinds of activities as there will be a food court, movie theatre, restaurants and art gallery. Training room for sportsmen, swimming pool, exhibition hall, business centre will also be constructed in the proposed NHC,” added Agarwal.
