Noida to develop Hindon riverside as tourist hub

Published on:

Noida will develop 700 acres of land along the Hindon River as a tourist hub. The authority will acquire land from the State Irrigation Department and a survey has already been conducted in this regard. Noida has also planned to construct district’s largest convention centre at the site. Authority officials have also envisaged to convert the land into a park, which would be named lohiya Park and the river front as tourist points. The development work will start, once the State Government gives the go ahead. This project is expected to reap benefit areas between Sector 118 of Noida to Haibatpur village near Greater Noida West.

The plan was announced after a meeting of senior officials of Noida Authority and the State Irrigation Department took place last week. Another round of meeting will be held to thrash out the glitches in this regard. The Irrigation Department has been asked to start an anti-encroachment drive to reclaim the land from squatters who refuse to budge despite several warnings.

According to an official, who participated in the deliberations, “Sectors 117, 118, 119, 122, 123, Sorkha, Parthala and Gadhi Chaukhandhi villages will be developed under the proposed plan and a convention centre (largest in Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida) with the capacity of approximately 5,000 people will be constructed. lohia Park’s design will be on the lines of lucknow’s lohia Park. The bank land in the vicinity of Pushta Road will be developed as river front for attracting tourists in the city”.

“As the State Irrigation Department has plenty of unused land in circle-6 near Hindon River, we have decided to convert the land into tourist spot. We have asked the officials of irrigation department to free the land from the encroachers so the development work could take place,” said the project engineer of Circle-6, Noida Authority.

The bank land and its surrounding areas have always been considered as neglected part of the city. Hence, the authority will beautify these places. Hopefully, the residents of Noida, Greater Noida West, Ghaziabad and other parts will visit the place in large numbers, he added.
