A 58-year-old manager of a restaurant was shot dead by unidentified criminals on Wednesday night. The deceased, identified as Dilawar Singh, was found dead in his car near the restaurant.

A case was lodged at Noida's Sector 24 Police Station and the body sent for post-mortem. No arrests have been made so far.  According to the police, around 12 am, Dilawar Singh, manager of Chip Chop Restaurant of Sector 12, was shot by bike-borne criminals. When he did not reach home till late night and could not be contacted on the phone as well, his elder son Dinesh Singh went to the restaurant, but did not find his father.

Along with other hotel staff, Dinesh reached Sector 11, where his father was found lying in a pool of blood on the driver’s seat of his car. They immediately admitted him to the Metro Hospital where the doctor declared him “brought death”. “At around 1 pm on Wednesday night, we received information through the victim’s kin. A patrolling PCR reached the spot. The body has been sent for post-mortem. There is a deep wound near the right ear, but it is not clear whether he was murdered by a pointed weapon or shot with a gun. We are awaiting the post-mortem report,” said Vishwajeet Shrivastav, Deputy Superintendent of Police.

The DSP also said that two waiters of the restaurant, Ranjeet and Satendar, had told police that earlier there was a conflict between the victim and two unidentified youths over bill. They added that the two had again come on Wednesday night to fight with the manager. “We have registered a case of murder against the suspected persons on a complaint lodged by Dinesh Singh. We are also questioning the hotel staff so we could ascertain the cause of death,” he said.
