The Noida Authority on Thursday said it has fined 96 builder projects and industrial plot owners of Rs 50,000 penalty each after they were found violating construction norms of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in the last fiscal year.
In the beginning of this year, the Authority has fined more than 70 builders of Rs 5,000 for violating burning wastes against NGT’s order.
The Authority has warned the builders to deposit their due penalty and comply with NGT’s norms. In April, the violators have also been told that the authority will further continue action against them if they violate construction norms of any 17 clauses laid down by the NGT. Noida authority’s project engineer SC Mishra said the Building Planning Department had issued 54 notices, including to 11 prestigious builders, imposing Rs 50,000 fine for violating NGT norms. Out of them, 34 have deposited their fines.
BM, Pokhriyal, Project Engineer, Health, Noida Authority said they have fined more than 70 people for burning leaves or wastes in Noida. People were also caught while dumpling waste or spreading garbage in the city, he said.
“We have fined Rs 5,000 to plots owners or the house holders who were burning wastes in and around their premises this year. House owners have been fined for dumpling waste as well. Meanwhile, dozens of vendors were fined of Rs 500 for spreading garbage. The department has colleted Rs 4 lakh in fine from these violators. The drive is continued in the city,” Pokhriyal said.
“We have directed all the project engineers of 10 work circles in Noida to conduct regular inspections in their respective areas.” Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Noida Authority, Saumya Srivastava, said
“Special teams have been formed only to ensure enforcement of NGT’s guidelines. They are conducting inspections of the construction sites. If any builder or developer is misusing groundwater for construction, violating construction norms and spreading pollution and dust at their sites, the Authority will take strict action against them,” DCEO said.
“We also take action against the violators if residents of Noida file complaints against them or send pictures of the sites,” DCEO added.
