Noida engineer's death: Cops still groping in dark

Noida police are yet to make any breakthrough in the death of Shashank Yadav (28), an engineer who worked with the Engineer India limited (EIl). His body was found hanging inside a ladies’ toilet in Noida Stadium of sector 21on Wednesday. The investigators are also scrutinising deceased’s call details.

“We are investigating the case from all aspects. We have sent the hard disk of his laptop for forensic examination and the call details of Shashank are also being scanned to identify people with whom he was in touch, especially on the fateful day. We are also questioning the EIl officials who were under CBI probe,” said SSP Gautambudh Nagar Preetinder Singh.

Shashank Yadav, a senior engineer of EIl, was assisting the investigating agency along with eight of his colleagues and was to submit some crucial document to CBI on the day of his death. One of his roommates said that Shashank was busy preparing documents on laptop on Tuesday’s night as he was supposed to submit the same before the CBI officials.

Noida police had registered a case of murder and destruction of evidence under sections 302, 201 of the IPC. No arrest has been made so far as the SSP claimed that it was under investigation and further action will be initiated once the investigating officer reaches to a conclusion.

His father Vinod Yadav is now demanding a high-level inquiry to ascertain the reasons behind his son’s murder. He also demanded that his son’s personal laptop be handed back to him. He alleged that nexus between certain senior officials of EIl and a Tukey-based company Furnas Construction Company was responsible for the murder. “Shashank was known for his honesty and was assisting Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in its probe into irregularities while allotting tenders to the Turkish company,” he told The Pioneer.

He also alleged that CBI has discovered several irregularities and the contract between the EIl and the Turkish company was likely to be cancelled. “Shashank’s mysterious death is the result of the unease that was building up between the EIl administration and Farnas Construction Company. Shashank’s final deposition before the CBI could have been the last nail in their coffin.”
