No traffic jams were witnessed on the city roads reinforcing the belief that autorickshaws are the main nuisance causing traffic jams.
Many motorists claimed that haphazard parking and irresponsible driving by auto-rickshaws is one of the main causes of traffic congestion.
Many commuters said most roads that are choked during peak hours due to encroachment by autorickshaws were clear on Wednesday and the traffic flow remained smooth.
A Yamuna Vihar resident said, “It takes me 45-50 minutes to reach ISBT from home, out of which 20 minutes are wasted just at the Shastri Park intersection due to the heavy traffic. But there was no traffic today. This means that autos contribute mainly to the traffic nuisance in the city.”
