Reacting to the Union Budget, Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken on Thursday said there is no special package in the Union Budget for infrastructural development in the Capital.
Maken said that it was very unfortunate that nothing has been allocated in the budget for the fourth phase of the Delhi Metro. The BJP Government at the Centre indulges only in rhetoric without doing any concrete work and this budget is a case in point. He said in 2014, it was the same Finance Minister who had talked about raising the income tax limit to Rs 5 lakh, but after becoming the Union Finance Minister, he forgot about it. As a result, the middle class and the lower middle class people are totally disappointed, he said.
He further said that the prices of essential commodities have also hit the roof and for the common people, it has remained a pipe dream to save something for the leaner days.
Maken said education and health are the fundamental rights of the people and to increase the cess on them from three to four per cent is an assault on their fundamental rights.
