The Parliament Street Police station, located at lutyen’s Zone, has no room for the investigating officers (IOs). The building of this police station has been taken by the Motor and Transport (MT) wing of the New Delhi.

The police station resembles a motor garage after the MT section was shifted to the building from Mandir Marg police station.

The MT division was operating from an open space of the Economic Offences Wing at Mandir Marg. Seeing their pathetic condition, senior police officials recently ordered the division to shift at Parliament Street police station.

The report also talks about the abysmal living condition at Tilak Marg especially for the reserve police force. “The barracks meant for the reserve force are not conducive to living and there was a need to shift the unit to some other place” said an officer.

The lack of space for the IOs inside the police station building is hampering investigations. The audit report pointed out that Reserve Inspector, who looks after district police lines, Records Section, Parliamentary Question Unit, RTI Cell, CCTV Cell, Web Cell, has also no working space.

The staff was discharging their duties under extreme constraint. The report also pointed out that the shifting of MT section has created problem for the lower and upper subordinates posted in Parliament Street police station as they have been forced to work at the corridors and cramped spaces.
