Police have not been able to make any headway in the murder of a British national, whose decomposed body was found in a plastic bag outside a shop in Bhogal area of Nizamuddin in South-East Delhi on Sunday. locals, auto drivers and other people were questioned by the police to see whether anybody had seen him in the area or knew something about him but nothing concrete has materialised so far.
Police have collected footage of CCTV cameras installed in Bhogal market and are also going through the footage of railway stations, bus stands and the airport here to find out when he arrived in Delhi and whether someone was with him or not. The body was identified as that of Rodick Andrew Raymond (40) with a mangled passport found in his pocket when his body was found stuffed in a plastic bag on Church Road after a passerby informed police. Police have written to the Immigration Department and informed the British embassy asking them to inform his next of kin and has also requested them to provide more information bout him.
Although it has been established through his passport that he had come to India on a tourist visa in February and had visited Chennai, Mumbai and Goa before coming to Delhi, investigators have no clue about when he came to Delhi and where he was staying. “It could be possible that he could have been killed for robbery but we are investigating the case from all possible angles. It seemed that he was killed somewhere else and his body was dumped here to mislead us,” said a police official, adding, “We are also trying to find out his mobile phone to put it on surveillance.” From the body’s condition, it appeared Reymond might have been murdered three-four days back.
