The Noida Toll Bridge Company limited (NTBCl) has decided to free the DND toll plaza for women users on International Women’s Day on March 8. The freebie will be available on both toll plazas located in Noida and Delhi for 24 hours to mark the occasion. This is the first time in history of 13 years when the toll authority has announced toll exemption for women using the DND flyway.
According to toll operator, the decision to free the plaza for women road users was taken to recognise and celebrate achievements of Women’s Day and the NTBCl wants to salute women on the occasion.
“The attempt is being made to pass our support to the women and to encourage them also. It is our pride that we have been extending our support on International Women’s Day on coming Saturday,” said the operator.
As per the announcement, the toll exemption will be available from Friday midnight to Saturday midnight on both sides of toll plazas of Noida and Mayur Vihar. The marshals, deputed at toll booths will allow passing of vehicles without collecting toll by ensuring that woman is driving the vehicle.
The women, who use gold cards for frequent ride, will be asked to use other lanes so could avoid deduction of toll amount automatically and could avail the facility.
Around 3,000 women use gold card, issued by DND authority, for using DND flyway. Spokesperson of NTBCl Anwar Abbasi said that the gesture is being adopted to convey regards to the women. “We have already started women’s helpline earlier; we have decided to provide free ride this time. Hopefully the number of woman user will increase with our move,” said Abbasi.
