There is no trace of Shipra Malik (29) — the fashion designer and boutique owner — who went missing on Monday afternoon. Police teams tasked to locate the missing woman have scanned all the footage obtained from CCTV cameras installed at different locations between Noida and Delhi, but of no avail.
Police investigations have revealed that Shipra had visited ING Vysya Bank branch situated at Sector-18 around 1.30 pm after leaving her home on Monday. Bank official told police that she stayed in the bank for half an hour and operated her bank locker. Also, police are probing some family dispute behind her disappearance.
Police officers also scanned her mobile phone and revealed that she accessed internet for around 12 minutes while travelling on DND (Direct Noida to Delhi) flyway. Investigators are trying to get her WhatsApp details to ascertain as to who was in contact with her on that particular day.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Gautam Budh Nagar district Kiran Sivkumar admitted that they have no clue yet in this case. “Victim’s mobile phone was found using internet continuously for around 12 minutes while she was on DND (Direct Noida to Delhi) flyway. We suspect that either Shipra had gone to Delhi herself or with persons who may be known to her or her mobile phone was taken there,” he said.
Noida police officers have been asked to report the progress of the case to lakshmi Singh, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Meerut Range. “We are questioning Shipra’s friends and relatives as we found certain contradictions in their statements. Our first priority is to restore her to her family. There are several aspects in this case that are being investigated,” the DIG told The Pioneer.
“A departmental enquiry has been set up against Noida police as they did not register Shipra’s kidnapping immediately after her car was found abandoned closed to her house. The enquiry has been given to Superintendent of Police (Crime) Ghaziabad,” the DIG said.
“The police teams have minutely scanned every vehicles passing from the DND but she was not found. Even, DND staffs have assured that they have not noticed any woman being taken forcibly,” SSP Kiran said.
Shipra — who went missing as she had gone for botique shopping at Chandani Chowk — had asked her husband Chetan to accompany her but he refused and went along with friend Rohit for visiting a car showroom. She had called on the Delhi Police Control Room for 10 seconds. later around 5 pm, Chetan had discovered her Maruti Swift car abandoned in Sector-29, Noida and then informed the local police about her disappearance.
