No arrest has been made till Thursday evening in an incident in which a gang of youths stabbed a DTC bus marshal when they were asked to vacate a seat reserved for women on the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road route bus near Saket on Wednesday.

The victim Rajbir, a Home Guard, was attacked with a blade by unidentified men as he tried to evict the accused from a seat reserved for women

passengers in Malviya Nagar area on Wednesday night around 9 pm, according

to police.

“He was travelling in a DTC bus when he objected to a man sitting on a seat reserved for the women. The man refused to vacate the seat and started arguing with him. While they both argued, a friend of the accused joined him and attacked the marshal with a knife,” a police officer said, adding the accused ran away from the spot.

The marshal was taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma centre where he was treated for his injury. A case was registered against unidentified persons at Saket Police Station.

It may be recalled that the Delhi Government had deployed 2,000 marshals in DTC buses to provide safe commuting to women passengers in July this year.

The move was aimed to protect them from eve-teasing and other forms of crimes on DTC buses.
